Dayana is a data scientist and expert in crypto asset investigations. Dayana combines her advanced data analytic abilities with her blockchain expertise to conduct crypto asset investigations involving a range of blockchains, including those that are not supported by commercial off-the-shelf forensic tools. Dayana also has extensive experience designing and writing complex computer programs to facilitate crypto asset investigations.

Dayana spent the past several years supporting a range of U.S. federal law enforcement and regulatory agencies with crypto asset analysis and open source intelligence research. Her work focused on decentralized finance, darknet markets, ransomware, terrorist financing, human trafficking, pig butchering, mixers, and more and has resulted in identifying numerous bad actors using blockchain to conduct nefarious activity.

Prior to joining NAXO, Dayana worked at Chainalysis as an Investigator on the U.S. Technical Investigations team where she led some of the world’s most complex and advanced crypto asset investigations. In addition to her investigations, Dayana has also conducted extensive research into the crypto-economies of countries around the world with a focus on highlighting illicit activity. She has presented her findings to a range U.S. and foreign government officials.

Dayana holds a BA in Quantitative Economics and Statistical & Data Sciences from Smith College and was recognized by Forbes as a Forbes 30 Under 30 Scholar in 2018. During her last year of undergrad, Dayana designed an advanced economics course alongside a Smith College professor to research potential central bank digital currencies’ (CBDCs) distributed ledger technology architecture. Dayana currently sits on the board of Maiden Labs, a non-profit research lab focused on CBDCs and other digital assets. Dayana is a native Spanish speaker.
